A milk stout with coffee, toasted coconut, cinnamon, and chipotle?  Sign me the f**k up because none of these ingredients sound bad at all.  Brash Milk the Venom is another stellar stout from the metal heads off Crosstimbers.  Brash makes several stouts that are solid as hell, but if you took a poll I am confident Milk the Venom would rank near the top. (We did. And it did.)  Once this collaboration with Houston’s metal overlords, Venomous Maximus dropped last year it was an instant hit.

Brash Milk the Venom has some very unique label art.  There are four people dressed like Walter and Jesse from Breaking Bad.  One of them is holding a skull like a sack lunch.  The background has a merry-go round with Black Phillip the goat from The Witch. A tornado is ready to destroy all in the distance. The artwork really sets the mood for the devilish black liquid inside.  The bottle cap reads Black Phillip is my Spirit Animal on a black background finishing out packaging.

You know that feeling when you know a beer is going to be good just by the pour?  Brash Milk the Venom fits the bill.  The velvety pour just beckons you in.  The head is just right.  It’s the perfect amount for a stout.  Then it dissipates slowly so you get all the tasty goodness.  The aroma of Milk the Venom is subtle but the toasted coconut definitely comes through with a slight hint of the chipotle.

Brash Milk the Venom doesn’t miss a note  as you enjoy this smooth treat of a beer.  The mouthfeel is soft but not wimpy and holds up the litany of flavors.  First, the toasted coconut and coffee come through while the cinnamon and chipotle finish the tasting profile.  Your throat will definitely feel the spice for a minute (in a good way).  The carbonation is perfect, you never forget you are drinking a 9% stout.   If an Almond Joy was made into a beer with some chipotle added in, that’s Milk the Venom.

Milk the Venom by Brash is an awesome beer and you will not be disappointed.  If you enjoy other Brash stouts like Abide, Vulgar Display of Power, and Cortado this will rank just as tasty for you.  Locally, nothing comes to mind but if you like the flavor profile of Praire Bomb don’t be shy and give this one a try.

Brash Brewing Milk the Venom can be found on tap at the brewery and around the Houston area.  They sold four pack bottles recently, and next Thursday they will release more four packs!  Brash also crowlers and several places in the area have jumped on the crowler caravan recently.  This Friday HopDrop will begin delivering crowlers to your door.  Bottom line is, you have no excuse for not acquiring this black gold.  Going to Brash this Saturday isn’t a bad idea either.  They are releasing 22 oz bombers of Black Masses their double coffee milk stout.  They also have Milk the Venom in firewalker whiskey barrels which they will unleash on livers in the near future (hopefully).

Brash Milk the Venom

Brash Milk the Venom is one my favorite local stouts. I know I am not alone in saying I’m stoked they are making this more often! I am giving this milk stout goodness a 4.5 star rating. If you haven’t tried this, be ashamed and make it right. Have you enjoyed Brash Brewing Milk the Venom? What are your thoughts?
