Cranky Britches Closing – Putting the Rumors to Bed
Local Brews and Local Grooves at House of Blues Houston was set to kick off this Saturday afternoon July 28, 2018 at 3pm.
Over 20 breweries were slated to be in attendance – Back Pew, 8th Wonder, Bearded Fox, Texas Beer Refinery and a handful of others including Cranky Britches Brewing Co. from Dickinson, TX.
Cranky Britches didn’t show, though. And per usual, somebody wanted to start some rumors.
Back when the rumors first surfaced about Texian, Dawn at Hop Stop referred to us as the TMZ of Houston Beer. We took that as a huge compliment and have continued to try and run with it.
The only thing more annoying than beer snobs are rumors, and we’d be more than happy to fill that role for The Duchess of Dank again putting a halt to the rumor mill. (We consider beer snobs to be people that shun others based on what they drink which isn’t productive to anybody in the craft community and only serves to elevate the ego of the snob.)
That said, Cranky Britches Closing is all rumor.
As soon as we saw the comment on Houston Craft Beer Society, we gave Bill Arning a call. He’s the owner of Cranky Britches Brewing. The Houston Craft Beer Society FB group has always been a pretty cool place full of pretty cool people, and we’re glad to contribute there whenever we have the time, but the post in question does more harm than good to a small brewery.
Bill had this to say, “We are restructuring, and have to shut down for a few weeks.”
He went on to say more news would be published soon, so be on the lookout for an official announcement.
Beers to you, Houston! 🍻
