01 May Lakewood Brewing Houston Market Relaunch
Lakewood Brewing Houston Market Relaunch
Lakewood Brewing Houston Market Relaunch begins May 1. Lakewood first landed on our shelves at the end of 2020, leading with their famous Temptress milk stout, and they’re back again.
A lot of things can happen in 6 months. (That’s like half a year, right?)
In the brewery world, a myriad of beers can be released. You can also barrel age a few within that time frame too. It’s even possible to have a set of new, shiny tanks delivered (maybe) and installed in your brewhouse (definitely).
In the case of Lakewood Brewing, out of Garland, TX, you can up your game and partner up with a new distributing partner to get your delicious beers back down to H-Town.
Lakewood first landed on our shelves at the end of 2020, leading with their famous Temptress milk stout. (Fun fact: formerly a seasonal only, customers loved it so much that it’s now a regular offering from the brewery along with a plethora of variants.)
Since their time here in Houston, we’ve been very lucky to enjoy several other beers from them, including a hazy collaboration with AleSmith Brewing Company called Mechanical Unicorn.
Distribution to a new market can be an adventure though, and Lakewood had to call a timeout, huddle up, and change their distribution play.
The good news is that as of May 1, Lakewood is back! And they’re coming back bigger and stronger. If you’ve been missing that silky and decadent Temptress, or anything else on their menu, they’re on their way here along with two more year-round offerings:
- Muy Importante, a Mexican-style lager with orange, lime, agave, and sea salt
- Tangerine Queen, a refreshing American citrus wheat brewed with tangerine
Additionally, throughout the year, these seasonals/limiteds will be all over town, ready for you to enjoy:
- Watermelon Queen, another citrus wheat but this time tinged with watermelon
- Mechanical Donuts, an imperial blonde ale brewed with donuts (Hypnotic Donuts collab)
- French Toast Temptress, a rich maple, cinnamon, and vanilla variant of Temptress
All of the above are expected to be in-stock in stores and bars beginning May 1. To help track these delicious beers, you can use Lakewood’s handy Beer Finder or ask your local retailer to bring them in. (We’re gonna do both.)
To help kick things off, Lakewood is hosting a “Meet The Owner” event here in town on Tuesday, 5/3, at Heights Bier Garten beginning at 5 PM. Peep the deets below:

Not only will you get the chance to meet Wim Bens, founder and owner of Lakewood, but they will also be pouring Temptress, French Toast Temptress, Muy Importante, Watermelon Queen, and Mechanical Donuts. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the brewery and try several of the beers headed our direction next month.
“Holy cow” is right!
We LOVE beer. Whether or not it’s brewed in Houston, we are always excited to try new ones, especially from our home state. It’s been too long since we could take home a Lakewood pack, but thankfully we won’t be waiting much longer.
Summer just got even better.
Join us in welcoming back this north Dallas powerhouse of a brewery to our grocery stores and bottle shops. Please ‘n thank you.
We hope to see you on May 3rd or in line waiting to purchase some Lakewood beer. We’ll be right behind you (as soon as we make room in our fridges.)
Beers to you, Houston.
