Ingenious Froyo Beer Label Design Overview

All the way back in the Spring of 2019, Ingenious was the first brewery to give us a real shot. Their Spring Training label came out, looked off, and we asked if they wanted some help. The rest is history. Since then, we’ve designed their website, their highly sought after Halloween Cereal beers, and their Mutagen beers that sold out in 2 minutes flat, video game beer labels, and Infinity Stone labels and merch. Over the years, their Froyo beer labels have been some of the most fun to design.

Problem

Create a series of froyo beer labels that are clean and simple while consistent with one another yet unique when set aside one another. Something that communicates the fun of Ingenious as well as the expensive, boutique quality of the small batch brews, and something that looks different than competitors on a store shelf all while paying homage to their original labels since this was one of the beers that they built their name on.

Solution

Take their old artwork from their homebrewing days, and add some polish. Add some detail. Add some finesse. Add some creative typography that has a retro appeal without looking old and dusty. Wrap it all up in a bright color palette just for funsies, and watch the masses line up for each new release. *Swish* There have been literally a dozen or more Froyo labels designed, but these stand out as some of the most fun in recent months.

Ingenious has always printed on Silver BOPP labels which allow for an extra layer of creativity. They were one of the many breweries that printed their labels on this shiny, silvery material to make them have a bit more luster on the shelf, but they didn’t take advantage of it fully. Once given the opportunity to design their labels, we started taking advantage of this substrate from day one to create highlights within the artwork using the foil beneath. We also had them add a matte laminate to add an extra layer of tactility and luxury to their boutique beer.

Working with Anthony [and Beer Chronicle] on our label designs has been smooth and effortless. His attention to detail is unparalleled.
