It’s summer time and the living is easyyy! Well, not quite. We live in Houston where the high temperatures are only beat out by the humidity level. So while you might break a sweat walking to your car, Southern Star Brewing has your disgusting, sweat-ridden back covered with their summer seasonal offering, Summer Saison.
Southern Star Summer Saison is everything you need on a hot, Texas summer day: light, crisp, and refreshing.
Before even tasting it, my sinus passages were gratefully graced with mild fruity and yeasty scents. With an almost-complete absence of a foamy head, my glass fully glistened a beautiful light amber and gold tone. The translucent brew allows light to easily shine through it’s lightweight body.
Summer Saison takes sessionable to another level. It’s starts incredibly clean and smooth, with very little to no hop undertones (a bonus if you’re not a huge IPA fan such as myself), and finishes with a spicier twinge. Caramel attempts to peek through the flavor profile, but the wetter, fruity tastes have the biggest impact. While it technically fits the bill as a saison, I could easily see it passed off as a witbier if it weren’t so clear.
It doesn’t take much effort to crush a six pack of these bad boys, and at only 5.25%, you can enjoy Southern Star Summer Saison morning, noon, or night (no judgements here!). Consider making this brew your newest pool partner or beach buddy.
